Artist Statement
ā
Currently completing my BA(Hons) Fine Art degree at The University of Lincoln, throughout my degree my practice has grown into being influenced heavily by the city centre. I create art that considers the aspects that make up the busy environment. To do this I capture material from the environment, which is usually photography, video or sound. I manipulate and edit this material to create large installations which are obviously inspired by the busy public environment.
A recent work that follows this practice consists of video footage of the city projected onto hanging materials that also have relation to the environment, this combination is partnered with powerful sound art to create an immersive experience for the spectator.

Immersion is defined 'to have deep mental involvement in something' (Oxford Dictionary, 2018), this is something I always aim for with my audience. Claire Bishop discusses Installation Art, and immersion perfectly in her book Installation Art (2005). She discusses Installation Art to be a movement that does not focus on a specific theme or material, but instead to focus on the viewers experience. This greatly influences me as an artist, throughout the viewing and exploring of my installations, I want the spectator to be immersed in the context of the work, so that they are made to feel as if they are part of something further than the gallery setting.
